A more detailed update. . .

Let's just get this out of the way first. Isn't that the cutest baby you have ever seen? That is my beautiful baby girl Layla Pearl. She is soooooo cute! I took this picture when she was two weeks old.

Okay, I know that I have been a bit disconnected from everyone for a few months. So here is the more detailed update for those of you who haven't heard it all. We moved back to Utah in December. It was a hard decision to make and we thought about it way too much. We love San Antonio. We have so many good friends there and Dave loved his job, but we decided that we wanted to be closer to family and if we were ever going to make the move, this was the time to do it. And since we tend to do major life changes all at the same time we also had a baby.

Layla Pearl was born on October 30th. She was 8 lbs. 5 oz. My labor was just about three hours. I had an epidural fairly early, but it wore off and I felt the contractions for the last 45 minutes of labor. Ouch! I dialated from a 6 to a 10 in about 20 minutes. And then she was here. She was jaundiced and we had to do light therapy at home for a week, but luckily her levels dropped before she had to be hospitalized. She is a great baby. I feel so blessed. She only cries when she is hungry. She started smiling very early, earlier than any of our other children. All you have to do is talk to her and she gets the biggest grin on her face.

Anyway, Dave is training with his father now to be an appraiser. He's learning a lot and enjoying a more layed back pace for work. We are living in Bear Lake for a while until we get more settled and can find a place in Cache Valley. It's absolutely beautiful here. Lots of snow! We love small town living. And we are grateful to be close to family again.

So there it all is . After Layla was born I was busy packing the house until we moved. And since then, we have been trying to get everything all settled and adjusted as we start our new life here. But I think we are finally settled and I hope to stay more connected!

I am sooo glad that one of us got to use the name Layla! And I don't think that makes her look like a hootchi at all (what does Aubrey know, anyway)! I'm still holding out on the name for girl #2, so our girls might end up with the same name...well, not exactly the same...I want Laila Bell.
