San Francisco

Dave loves to travel!  Which is great since he's been able to do some traveling with his new job.  He's been to Dallas and San Francisco so far.  Every night we would talk and he would tell me about what he had seen that day and where he was going to eat.  I'll admit that I am a little bit jealous!  Especially when he's eating seafood while overlooking the ocean and I'm at home eating mac and cheese with the kids! But I'm glad he gets to go and experience new things and places! Here are a few of the pictures from his trips to San Francisco.

April Fool's Day

The kids were loving April Fool's day this year.  They kept trying to trick me all day long.  "There's a dog in our back yard!  April Fool's!" and "I broke my toe waaaaah!  April Fool's!" and "Emma's stuck on the fence and is going to fall!  April Fool's!"
For dinner
I made this
and this
The first is actually shepherds pie and the "fishsticks" are actually wafer cookies.  I showed the kids what we were having and told them they could choose what they wanted to eat first.  Of course they all chose the pie and were so excited that they got to eat dessert first!  McKay took a bite and said with disgust, "Yuck, this is smashed potatoes!"  And I laughed evilly and replied, "April Fool's!"  And then he started crying!  I started laughing more (because I'm cool like that) and he started crying louder.  It was pretty funny!  After a good five minutes of him carrying on he finally stopped and told me, "April Fool's!"  I think he was just covering his tracks.  The other kids liked my trick.  Emma had seconds and thirds of everything.  Dave got home later and just looked at the food and didn't get it.  He thought they both looked gross and went and got a hamburger instead. So much for April Fool's.  Oh well.

Handy

I may not make dinner every night, or stay on top of the laundry. . .but I can build furniture, and take a part the kitchen sink to fix it. We all have our talents!

Table Makeover

I've been wanting to paint my table for a few years now and I just got around to doing it last week. And I have no idea why I didn't take a before picture, so this old one will have to do. Our table was the classic farm table with the light oak finish on the top. I love the antique white of the bottom portion, but didn't love the oak. So it got a makeover!

Love it! Next up is to make a couple of benches and get two chairs to finish the look!
