I "heart" fall!

Our prize pumpkin (you can't tell from this picture, but it's really big!)

Last night I enjoyed a lovely evening by the fire, eating pumpkin cake and reading a book. The only thing that could have made it better would have been some apple cider! I love fall!

Headlines from the last few months

  • Dave and I celebrated 8 years of marriage!
  • We have enjoyed many a day and evening at the lake.
  • Our garden failed. Well, the pumpkins are doing good. And the onions are finally getting bigger. But that's it. I'm not converted to gardening yet.
  • We lost two chickens and gained two kittens.
  • Sophie uses the kittens as accessories. She drapes them on her head, around her neck, over her shoulder. They also serve as her baby dolls.
  • I enjoyed a lovely girls weekend with my mom, sister, and aunt. We shopped and did crafts. It was a much needed break and I can't wait for the next one.
  • I went camping with the kids at our family reunion. We slept in our van. The kids bathed in the dirt. Fun times. Dave joined us for a night as well.
  • Emma got a really cute haircut. She loves it. I love it.
  • The kids started school, finally. Emma is a big second-grader and McKay is in kindergarten. They love riding the bus.
  • Sophie turned four and requested a purple kitty cake.
  • I only have five weeks left of being pregnant.
  • I'm going to have FIVE kids!
  • We don't have a name yet and it's really driving me crazy.
  • I'm trying to get everything organized and ready for the baby. I need to move Layla to the big girls room and get all the baby stuff in the baby room.
  • I've slacked off on picture taking. I have some pictures from the above events, but mostly not.
  • I'm not good at blogging. Oh well.
  • I like crafts and I started a craft blog. Ummm. . .yeah. Not good at blogging. But I want to try. Anyway, check out The Creative Collection for different craft ideas.
  • And that's all for now!

Circles

I know that I'm not that entertaining. Which is why this blog has been neglected so much. I guess my life is pretty much the same day in and day out. Doesn't sound very entertaining. But as a mom, my days are sometimes filled with all sorts of interesting things. I just need to look at life differently. After surfing around some blogs, I found an excellent example of everyday entertainment. Check out this post. I was laughing hysterically. Okay, probably not hysterically, but it is pretty funny. And a hilarious example of life with kids!

Short and Sweet

Imagine the hormones that will be raging when I have four teenage girls! Yes, four girls! We are having another girl!
Sure, a boy would have evened out the family a little more, but I can't complain. It will be fun to have four girls. McKay was a bit disappointed, but I think he's over it for the time being. He'll just be an expert on girls now.

Yay for girls!

Yes, it's the monthly update

My goal is one post a month and so far I am right on target! Seriously, I swear all I do with this blog is update. Oh well, maybe I'll get better. So here's the monthly update:

* We've gone country! We decided to downsize for a while and moved into my in-laws vacation home. Yes, the same one we lived in when we first moved back from Texas (I'm being super-sleuth-like by not saying the name of the town we are in. Never know what psychos might be reading this!) Anyway, we love it here. So peaceful and quiet and beautiful.

* We are the proud owners of ten chickens and one rooster! Crazy and we've been getting six eggs a day. We had a dog for about a week (a neighbor's dog adopted us, but then they moved). She was a really sweet dog, but we're hoping to get our own soon.

* We are planting a garden for the first time ever. Both Dave and I rototillered the huge thing and it was actually a lot of fun!

* Emma had a birthday and turned seven. Sheesh! It seems a bit surreal that I have a child that age.

*Dave had a birthday and turned 30! Which is sooooo not old. He thinks so; I think not. 30 is the new 20!

I am so excited for summer! Going to the lake, playing outside, summer parties, friends and family visiting. It's going to be great!
